It’s only prophetic because… Nobody’s asked any questions yet…

Q: So, what exactly is this?
A: This dA is the group account for all of the writers working on the Through the Skies: City of Gold project.

Q: What’s that?
A: The project is a work-in-progress book based on a roleplay. BUT WAIT! HEAR ME OUT! It’s quality content, written by quality writers. I promise. Seriously. Give our gallery a look and then tell me I’m wrong. It’s impossible.

Q: So, what’s the storyline?
A: Naw, man. You have to READ it. But I can surely give you a back-cover-of-the-book-style summary.
“Floating high above the streets of London, the H.M.S. Adrastea awaits anyone willing to give it business. Adra is a somewhat disheveled aircraft, dealing in business legal and otherwise—whatever will put food on the table. The crew consists of Captain Delia Rosteau, the strong-willed leader who loves her ship above all; Keegan, the comedian of the group; Donnan, the gentle giant of sorts; Sparky, the young mechanic; and Sanji, older-than-Sparky-but-still-referred-to-as-“the kid”assistant mechanic.
Recently, however, the media has cast light upon something that will make the crew search for jobs no more…
An airship had crashed into London, aflame. A man had staggered out of it saying he and his crew had found a city of infinite beauty, with buildings made of solid gold. However, he claimed, his crew had been ambushed and killed, his ship getting caught in booby traps.
Needless to say, the entire city of London found him insane. Delia, however, saw it as a lead. She set her sights on finding the city. Little she know she was not the only one looking.
The H.M.S. Prestige is a government ship set out to find this alleged “city of gold” before anyone else does. If they encounter anyone who plans on getting in their way, they have no intentions of being anything but merciless.
The British government has taken a recent hit in its ego: the American colonies had fought a war against them and won, now becoming its own nation. Not to mention, the recently acquired France seems to be less than happy about being usurped. Not to mention the tension the news of the American Revolution is bringing to all of the other British colonies: India, China, their portion of Russia (Khaitland), Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Algeria, the Oceania (Australia and New Zealand)—even the almost-always neutral Sweden and Belgium (though they seemed to have great opposition to being turned into giant factories, as the government had done with them…
A war may be imminent, and in that case, the already-near-impoverished British Government will need as much funding as possible. Without it, they may be overtaken completely—which is simply not an option.
The S. S. Deimos is a pirate ship with a dark reputation. The crew is known to do anything and everything for money, even though they're well known to be extremely wealthy already, some of the higher-ranking pirates owning their own towns and islands. Once the crew heard about the rumor of the city of gold, they were more than excited to find it and claim it for themselves.”


Q: What genre/s is it?
A: The theme of it is Steampunk. The genres are drama, romance, action/adventure, and scifi/fantasy.

Q: So, um, I’m confused. These stories are not cohesive. What’s the order?
A: There isn’t one. Most of them so far are backstories, which should be easy to put in order. It’ll start getting confusing once we start putting actual events from the RP up, but you can leave us a comment if you’re confused about where a specific bit goes in the timeline, and we’ll clear things up for you.

Q: Why do you use so many different writing styles?
A: Because “I” am not one person. There are many different authors working on this project. Here, I’ll give you a little About the Authors thing…
Vellocet or Drencrom/Captain Vell/Captain: Hi, that’s me. The one writing this journal. Anyway, I created the RP, with tons of help from Agent Kwap. He’ll be the next one I write about. Anyway, my main character is Delia. She’ll probably have quite a bit of backstory on here. I also have another character, Lilja, but unless I write backstory about her she won’t be showing up for a little while.
Agent Kwap/Agent: The amazing source of help when starting the RP. I think he was also the one who pitched the idea of making a book. Yeah, he totally was. His characters are Keegan, Jonas, and Captain Asian. I mean, Captain Si.
Lady White Rabbit/Lady/Lieutenant: Lieutenant is the creator of Rose and Dorian.
Teryn: Teryn’s the creator of Donnan, and Lilja’s twin borther, Ari, who, again, you might not see until later if at all.
Biggs: He hasn’t submitted yet (ahem), but he created Sanji, Gotzu, and Donovan
More authors may join later, but we’ll have to wait and see.
